Hookah Cafe

hookah_cafe Hookah Cafe
500 Frenchmen Street
New Orleans, LA 70116
(504) 943-1101

Once you sit upon Hookah Café’s plush pillow-filled benches and pick a flavor of house-mixed shisha for your tabletop hookah, you will feel like you’ve left the Marigny and been transported to India, glamorous and exotic. Newly remodeled and with a brand-new menu to boot, Hookah Café has separated their dining room and lounge. Go early for internationally-inspired entrees, stay late for small plates and a varying selection of music. It could be jazz, house or something to suit a bellydancer.

Feelings Cafe

Feelings Cafe
2600 Chartres Street
New Orleans, LA 70117
(504) 945-2222

One of the most romantic restaurants in New Orleans, Feelings has a picturesque courtyard and an adjacent piano bar. The upstairs balcony overlooks all of the Crescent City splendor, making it a perfect place to enjoy the Seafood Baked Eggplant or Gulf Fish Nicholas. Their Peanut Butter Pie is legendary!

La Peniche

la_peniche La Peniche
1940 Dauphine Street
New Orleans, LA 70116
(504) 943-1460

Open 24 hours Thursdays through Mondays with breakfast available all of the time, this casual neighborhood café features fresh updates on classic foods. A trademark example is Eggs Benedict Peniche, which adds a tomato atop the English muffin, in addition to the usual Canadian bacon and hollandaise. This explains why breakfast and brunch hours are usually crowded. Dinner serves Cajun spiced pork and tasty desserts. Affordable and filling.

The Country Club

634 Louisa Street
New Orleans, LA 70117
(504) 945-0742

Set in a sprawling old Creole cottage filled with the requisite hardwood floors and abundant natural light, The Country Club is a lot of things. Like a less snooty version of the one you took tennis lessons at as a kid, the backyard requires a membership pass to enter ($10 on weekdays, $15 on weekends; annual passes are available). But it might be worth it in the hot summer months: It has multiple pools, lagoons and fountains. As for the inside, the menu is full of Louisiana flavors like crawfish beignets and duck confit flatbread, and the wine and cheese lists are both huge and reasonably priced.

Marigny Brasserie

p_marigny2Marigny Brasserie
640 Frenchmen Street
New Orleans, LA 70116
(504) 945-4472

With a beautiful interior, Marigny Brasserie offers a creative and eclectic menu, a competitively-priced wine list and a chalkboard full of tempting specials based on seasonal ingredients and seafood. The cocktail list is equally tempting with various fruit mojitos and martinis, and they have a special bar menu full of Asian-inspired finger foods and mussels with fries. Brunch on Sundays, lunch on weekdays.
